  • We work with the abundant common plants that thrive in our local natural habitat and practice traditional conscientious wildcrafting. This way the health and vitality of the plants is respected and protected.
  • We use high quality menstrums: 100 proof vodka and organic olive oil. Our tinctures and oils infuse for at least six weeks (instead of the commercial standard of two weeks). This allows for the extraction of a full range of constituents and provides power and potency to the medicines.
  • We work with the spirit of the plants. The power and potency of herbal medicine lies beyond simply its chemical constituents. The power of herbal medicine abides in the spirit of the plants. If you only every used herbs according to their science you would surely get some benefit but you would also miss out on the energized essence that lies at the heart of true Herbal Green Medicine.

Evenstar Herbs carries the synthesis of wisdom gained over 30 years. Mary Ann Copson herbalistI began my herbal training with renowned herbalist Susun Weed and trained with her for three years. In 1987, I founded Evenstar Herbs using traditional medicine making techniques. Since then, I have designed individualized Wellness and Herbal Programs for thousands of private clients.

Throughout the years I have taken on many forms of a healer – midwife, herbalist, nutritionist, life coach, brain chemistry profiler, etc – and been trained in many forms of healing. I have been a healer of various sorts for about 35 years now.

Herbal Tinctures

To take tinctures place the dosage into a glass, add a small amount of water and drink. If the taste of the tincture is too strong you can mix with more water and with tea or juice (with milk is yucky - IMHO).

Tonics generally are best tolerated taken at meal times.

SuperAlterative

This herbal remedy works very well to head off immunity illness if you start right away when symptoms first appear and you use small doses frequently.

SuperAlterative is a very strong alterative for the lymphatic system (of which the immune system is a part). It contains herbs that can be toxic if taken for prolonged periods or in doses that are too large.

Follow these directions. If you have questions ask.

  • SuperAlterative is only used as needed for Acute conditions and in the primeval stage when symptoms are just beginning.  It is NOT used continuously as a tonic. 
  • A normal dose is ½ (3 droppers) to 1 cap (filed to the top = 6 droppers). Most people tolerate 1/2 cap best.
  • For the elderly or children 5 and over the normal dose would be ½ cap but you should test this out first by giving only a little less than ½ cap. If they tolerate that then you can use the ½ cap.
  • At the first signs of immune challenge or at the appearance of ANY immune symptoms give ½ cap, 3-4 times a day until the symptoms resolve.
  • If these symptoms are appearing rather rapidly or the immune challenge is great give the equivalent of 1 dropper hourly while awake. 
  • If some immune illness has already taken hold and symptoms are obvious, give ½ cap every every 2-3  hours. Decrease the frequency daily as the symptoms decrease. Do NOT use 1 cap as the dose this frequently for any population or circumstance.
  • For minor lingering symptoms give ½ cap 2x a day.
  • For major lingering symptoms give ½ cap 4x a day for a week.
  • When the immune symptoms are clearing but not totally gone, give ½ cap 1-2x a day. 

Special circumstances:

  • For large/heavy people the normal dose may increase to 1 cap. Follow the same frequency protocols.
  • If you have experience taking SuperAlterative and you feel that you need to combat symptoms aggressively, you can use 1 cap as your normal dose, except as noted above.
  • Children under 5 years old should NOT take SuperAlterative. Instead, they should take Immune Tonic.
  • Children under 10 should not take frequent doses of SuperAlterative (hourly or every 2-3 hours) for more than 2 days in a row. They can continue taking Superalterative but in less frequent doses.

Herbal Infused Oils

These herbal oils are made from chemical free, organically grown or wildcrafted plants prepared at their peak of vibrancy. To ensure the most effective product, the herb contents has been extracted by a maceration process in Organic Olive Oil for six weeks or more. The properties of herbal oils are absorbed through the skin - especially fatty tissue and muscle membrane. Herbal Infusions and Teas

Herbal Infusions and Teas are water-based herbal preparations. In an infusion, a large amount of herb is brewed for a long time in a proportionately small amount of water. In a tea, a small amount of herb is brewed for a short time in a proportionately large amount of water. A water based preparation extracts more vitamins and minerals than alcohol based tinctures.

Evenstar Herbal Infusions are easy and fun to make.  Use a one quart glass jar with a screw on cap. Put in the Evenstar Herbal Infusion Pack. Pour in boiling water to fill the jar. Put on the cap. Let sit (infuse) 4-6 hours. Take out the pack and save the liquid. Store liquid in a glass container in the refrigerator. You can drink at least 1 cup of one of these herbs a day or more if you like.

Infusions can be drunk hot or cold and can be reheated. You can drink them as they are or add sweeteners or other flavoring. After the infusions are made you can add them to juice or dilute them with more water.

Teas are prepared and consumed in the usual way. Take one small pack of herbs and place in a cup. Pour in boiling water. Cover and let steep about 10 minutes.

Carminative Tea

Herbal carminatives are aromatic herbs used to expel gas (wind) from the stomach and intestines. Containing volatile oils, their effect upon the digestive system is to tone mucous surfaces and increase peristaltic action. Drink after meals to help ease digestion.

Baths, Compresses, and Steam Inhalation

Baths and compressess are also water-based herbal preparations. A water based preparation extracts more vitamins and minerals than alcohol based tinctures.

Prepare a bath as you would an infusion:  Use a one quart glass jar with a screw on cap. Put in the Evenstar Herbal Bath Pack. Pour in boiling water to fill the jar. Put on the cap. Let sit (infuse) 4-6 hours. Take out the pack and save the liquid. Store liquid in a glass container in the refrigerator if not to be used shortly in the bath.

To take a Sitz Bath: In a clean bathtub run the water as hot as you can comfortably sit in. Be careful – do not run the water so hot that you burn yourself. The level of the water should be no higher than your hips (about 6-8 inches deep).

Pour in the infused sitz bath water and the sitz bath pack itself into the bath water. While sitting in the bath water gently splash and circulate the water around.

Fifteen to twenty minutes once or twice a day for 5 - 14 days should facilitate healing.

The herbal sitz bath packs are designed to be used for one bath to give the optimum effect. However, in addition to using the herbal sitz bath to generate the infused herbal mixture, the wet herbal sitz bath pack can be applied directly to the problem area.

Discard bath pack after one use.

Hemorrhoid Relief Sitz Bath

Wound Healing Compress/Poultice

To make a compress: Take one big pack of herbs and place in a one quart glass jar. Boil water and fill the jar 1/2 full. Screw on cap. Let it sit (infuse) for 4-6 hours. When ready to use, take the compress herb pack and apply to desired area. Secure in place with gauze or soft cotton cloth. If you are using this compress at times other than overnight you may occasionally refresh the compress by dribbling the herb infusion onto the compress.

Nasal Congestion Steam Inhalation

Steam helps loosen mucus, soothes dry membranes, decongests, and can relieve sinus headache. The use of this herbal steam preparation increases the therapeutic effect of the steam.

Boil two quarts of water. Pour boiling water over the dry herbs in a bowl. (Add 1/4 capful of Respiratory Oil, if you have it.) Hold head over hot water with a towel over your head to contain the steam. Breath deeply. Do this for 15-20 minutes. Do this 1-2 times a day for two weeks. Then do this 1 time a week for maintenance. Increase the frequency if you notice any symptoms.

After the inhalation you can pour the fluid back into a glass jar and store it in your refrigerator for reuse. Do not drink.
